The disco phenomenon was immortalized in Paramount's ''Saturday Night Fever,'' the hit movie that starred John Travolta as a paint salesman who is king of the discos on Saturday night. The combination of light shows and recorded music by disk jockeys culminated in the mid-70's in disco. So we took five or six of the songs we felt were the strongest cuts on the album and cut video sequences from the film to the music.''ĭuring the 1960's, with the advent of discotheques, turntables became the stars of nightclubs. ''How could we promote it? The success of MTV, the all-music cable channel, has opened a whole new world of possibilities for reaching teen-agers.
